What is bruxism?

Many of our patients suffer from a condition known as bruxism, which is the grinding and clenching of your teeth involuntarily. Bruxism generally occurs at night as you sleep. There are many complications that can arise from bruxism, including:

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Very worn-down teeth
  • Increased tooth sensitivity
  • Sore and tired jaw muscles
  • Earaches and toothaches

At Leon Springs Dental , we care about the health of your entire smile, and we work hard to provide our patients with bruxism treatment in San Antonio, Texas.

How is bruxism treated?

There are many different ways to treat bruxism, based on your individual needs and the severity of your case. Dr. Carolyn Walker and Dr. Clarian Lannom are proud to offer our patients custom-made oral appliances, often referred to as night guards, to help prevent your teeth from grinding and clenching at night. Crafted from a durable type of plastic, your oral appliance fits snugly over your teeth and will be very comfortable and easy to sleep in. The goal of the oral appliance is to act as a barrier between your teeth to stop them from touching. If you are experiencing the signs and symptoms of bruxism, we invite you to call our dental office today at 210-698-1010 to learn more about our night guards, and to set up your appointment with our dentists. We look forwarding to treating your smile!
