What are dentures?
We understand that many of our patients who have experienced tooth loss are hesitant to commit to long treatments that require surgery. As another option, Dr. Carolyn Walker and Dr. Clarian Lannom, our talented dentists, may suggest dentures in San Antonio, Texas. Dentures are removable, prosthetic teeth that are ideal for replacing most or all of a lost smile. We offer two different types of dentures at Carolyn Walker: full dentures and partial dentures.
What is the difference between full and partial dentures?
Full dentures are used to replace all of the teeth in your smile by using a gum-colored base to support your new teeth. This base fits snugly over your gums and is shaped like a horseshoe. We may suggest a denture adhesive to hold your full dentures in place. Partial dentures, on the other hand, can be used to replace just one or a couple of teeth, requiring some of your natural smile to remain. Along with a base, partial dentures use metal framework or clasps to stay in place. Both full and partial dentures improve your oral health, self-confidence, and ability to eat and speak. If you are interested in replacing your teeth with dentures, we invite you to contact our dental office today by calling 210-698-1010 and scheduling a consultation with our dentists.
